Ander Herrera calls for Manchester United to show FA Cup spirit
Manchester United midfielder
Ander Herrera has issued a rallying call ahead of Wednesday's FA Cup
sixth-round replay against West Ham at Upton Park.
United return to London following a 3-0 defeat at Tottenham on Sunday that left them four points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City in the Premier League table. There have been newspaper reports that some United players branded boss Louis van Gaal 'clueless' in a dressing-room inquest after the game and the Dutchman's management skills face another tough test from the Hammers.
"The FA Cup is a big competition. It's very emotional," the 26-year-old Spaniard said.
"In the Premier League you show your balance but in the cup you show your spirit and your desire to win.
"I have a lot of things in mind about being there and we have a big chance to be there - but of course West Ham away is not easy."
United have won the FA Cup 11 times, but not since 2004 and last lifted a major trophy when they won the Premier League in 2012/3.
"And we don't have players in the dressing room who have won it for United.
"I was talking to Michael Carrick about it and he told me he wants to win and get to Wembley."
